Easier than it looks

It's such a blast to play this lick simply because it becomes easy to do. You will want to play it again and again once you've learned to master it. The picking just flows and your left hand "likes" how the lick moves from one string to another. It's hard to explain, you have to experience it first hand.

It's not twice as much work

Learning economy picking will make you better at alternate picking and vice versa. And if you're pretty good at alternate picking it'll be much easier to learn economy picking. In fact economy picking IS alternate picking only with little "sweeps" build into it.

Why learn economy picking?

Most people stick to either alternate picking or economy picking. But both picking styles has as many disadvantages as they have advantages. But if you learn both picking techniques you completely remove the disadvantages because every time you run into problems with one picking style, you can let the other one take over.
